PRESS RELEASE - The Saint Lucia National Youth Council (NYC) in collaboration with the National Students’ Council is pleased to announce our hosting of this year’s leadership conference for secondary school student leaders.
The ‘Lucian Leaders’ Summit’ will be held from August 18-22 at the St. Mary’s College, Vigie, Castries and precedes the NYC Biennial General Assembly.
The “Lucian Leaders’ Summit” was designed to promote an experience-based approach to student-friendly learning. This form of programming lays down the infrastructural frame that will motivate participants to develop and expand on their organisational skill-set and then use that skill-set to engender a more proactive student leadership movement in their schools for the upcoming school year and beyond.
The summit aims to empower the students to take a more active role in their schools by leading more initiatives and activities, and advocating for their fellow classmates in an organised and professional manner.
The NYC believes that constantly engaging the students when they are in and out of school is imperative in the personal development of teenage leaders, it reinforces previous rhetoric, and the continuous education helps the students fully delve into the ideas and principles presented to them.
Registration is still open for any secondary school age leaders in school and community groups.
If interested in attending the Summit, please contact the NYC office on La Pansee Road, Castries or call us at 452-7445 or 485-5017.
The forms are also available on our Facebook page “St. Lucia National Youth Council.” Additionally, we can be emailed at lls.slunyc@gmail.com.
