PRESS RELEASE – My suffering started when I was 12 years old. I grew up with a terrible anger inside of me, which made people’s mind to be twisted, trying to find out what was the reason for a child to have so much anger inside of that little heart.
It was because at that age I was abused. I tried to speak out but nobody wanted to listen to me, nobody believed me. I was bitter inside, trying to be free of that suffering, and I couldn’t find help.
When I reached the age of sixteen that bitterness grew more. I tried to find happiness and joy in drinking with my friends. I used to drink to try to cover up the emptiness that was inside of me. I was sad, lost and confused with my situation.
I didn’t have peace. I used to go out and not tell my mother where I was going and when I came back home I was drunk. All that I had at that time was female friends; because of what had happened to me I started to hate boys. I wanted to fight them at school or in the community where I was living.
My mother and I never agreed. We used to argue every single day and for any little thing. The shouting and arguments could be heard from afar.
When I decided to give an opportunity for a man to love me, I was disappointed, and because of that I tried to kill myself. I went by the sea and I tried to drown myself.
In my house there was misery. Many nights I went to bed hungry, there was no money for me to go to school or pay our bills. Not being financially stable, I used to have negative thoughts and sleepless nights. My desire was to see all my suffering finished. I prayed to God and He heard me.
A friend sent by God told me about the YPG (Youth Power Group). At first I tried to come but didn’t. My friend invited me again and I accepted the invitation. When I attended the meetings there, they listened to my problems. The love that I tried to find from people and I couldn’t get, I found in the YPG. They taught me how to be a better woman, how to overcome my past and how to forgive and forget. Today I have peace within myself and I help others with the same problems that I was going through.
