On Monday and Wednesdays, a well planned out curriculum to improve reading and writing will be stressed. On Tuesday and Thursday, mathematics is emphasized. Evodia Cassius is the driving force behind the academics. Ms. Cassius has recently returned from the States with her Bachelors in Education. She explains the benefit of such after school programs. “Statistically speaking, children involved in well managed after school programs have improved academic performance and better behavior in the classrooms. Socially, well run afterschool programs recognize that God has created each individual with incredible potential. The programs allow a community to provide a safe place for academic as well as spiritual growth. In a recent report from the University of Chicago and UCLA, after school program attenders were shown to have reduced drug use and criminal behavior later on in life. We believe that an educated nation is a thriving nation. This program and others like it, are building up our greatest national resource – which are our people.”
