PRESS RELEASE – Windward and Leeward Brewery Limited (WLBL) through its Brewing a Better World (BABW) Campaign has partnered with Junior Achievement St. Lucia (JASLU) as a Gold Sponsor for their 2016 education program.
BABW, which is an internationally based company-wide campaign focuses on not only advocating responsible consumption and promoting health and safety, but also on growing with communities, education and sporting activities. WLBL therefore saw this partnership fitting perfectly with its Corporate Social Responsibility agenda and its passion for people, quality and brands.
“Throughout our 40 year existence, we have been committed to education and people development in St. Lucia through our internship and scholarship programs, textbook scheme, employee enhancement programs and now our partnership with JASLU. We believe that the education of our employees and youth are fundamental to WLBL and St. Lucia’s development and growth. JASLU provides an avenue for students to build confidence, learn more about the workforce, work on projects and the importance of community involvement which is in keeping with our BABW campaign” stated Fayola Ferdinand, Corporate Relations Manager, WLBL.
At a cheque presentation ceremony, Ms. Agnella Joseph, JASLU Program Coordinator said “We are proud to have a company like WLBL support our program. All the assistance we receive allows us to further grow and develop the program. We started in 1996 with six schools in the Castries area and 111 participants, now we have 20 secondary schools, including vocational and over 60 primary schools island wide, involving approximately 6000 participants. So thank you WLBL for your support of our program.”
The schools that WLBL will be working with for this school year are Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary School located in Union and Plain View Combined School, located in Vieux Fort.
