PRESS RELEASE – The St Mary’s College Agricultural/Biology/ General Science Department has designed a vacation program, with a difference, for 11 to 13 year old children, which introduces them to selected aspects of the environment while integrating the benefits of hands-on science based learning and field trips.
This department offers children the opportunity to combine this skills based program with the recreational fun of table tennis, lawn tennis and chess. We have also secured the services of two Japanese volunteers to conduct some environmental sessions.
The objectives of the program are as follows:
- Understand where our food comes from and learn about the natural world.
- Explore the connection between plants, animals and the environment.
- Promote respect for self, others and the environment.
- Sustain interest in selected sporting activities.
The vacation school will run from July 25th 2016 to August 12th 2016; Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm at St Mary’s College. The fee is $100.00 per week excluding the cost of lunch and snacks.
