GIS – The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour through the Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Unit has stressed the importance of training institutions seeking approval from the Ministry.
Euthalia Philgence, Quality Assurance Officer at TVET, said that it is illegal to set up a training or educational facility without the approval of the Ministry.
“There is a centre approval process. By law, any centers that are doing any form of training must be approved by the Ministry of Education and for the TVET areas it must be approved by the TVET division.”
Ms. Philgence said approval is necessary because unsuspecting students can easily be caught off guard by unapproved institutions who offer more than they are able to deliver.
“What we noticed before is that training institutions are set up and nobody knows of the value of their qualifications. So the TVET Unit along with the Ministry of Education decided to put systems in place to ensure that when somebody gets a qualification that it is something that you can carry somewhere which has value.”
Quality Assurance Officers at TVET work diligently to ensure the authenticity of all qualifications.
