PRESS RELEASE – Nalisa Marieatte, a citizen of Saint Lucia, was awarded the Thomas De La Rue Scholarship to undertake a full-time two-year post-graduate degree in Economics at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus from September 2015.
The De La Rue Group in collaboration with UWI and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) grants the £9,300.00 Thomas De La Rue Scholarship to an eligible citizen of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) every two years. The awardee is selected on the recommendation of a selection panel which includes representatives from UWI, the ECCB and the St Kitts and Nevis Economic Society.
Prior to pursuing her undergraduate studies at UWI, Nalisa was a member of the Junior Achievement Programme and was awarded the title of National Junior Achiever in the Junior Achievers Globe Programme in 2003. She also served as a youth parliamentarian and CARICOM Youth Ambassador for Saint Lucia from 2006 to 2008. In 2011, she graduated from UWI with a BSc in Economics and International Relations with first-class honours.
