PRESS RELEASE - The Caribbean Regional Infrastructure Programme (CARCIP)will be commencing its Information Communication Technology (ICT) Skills Development programme in September 2015.
The programme will provide free training and certification to unemployed youth between the ages of 17 -35 in the following subject areas:
Photography, Database Management, Systems Analysis and Design, Internet Security, Multimedia Production/Animation, Application Development, Computer Graphics, Automotive Technology, End Point Maintenance & Repair, and Information Communication Technology/ IT Management.
To encourage island- wide participation, training will be conducted in the communities of Vieux-Fort, Micoud, Soufriere and Castries at variouslocal accredited training institutions as well as the National ICT centres. Special training packages are also available for employed persons wishing to participate in the programme. Eligible persons must be holders of a minimum of three CXC passes grade 1, 2 or 3 and should also meet the specific course requirements of the training programme.
CARCIP is currently being implemented by the Ministry of the Public Service, Information & Broadcasting in collaboration with theTechnical and Vocational Education and Training Unit (TVET) of the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour.
The programme is part of the Government’s overall strategy to develop the ICT industrythrough the enhancement of productivity and technical expertise within the local ICT sector.
