Scholarships to be awarded at Children of Helen Alliance Inc’s annual dinner

PRESS RELEASE - Children of Helen Alliance Inc. will be awarding 5 scholarships on May 30 at our annual 4th Scholarship and Recognition Awards dinner/dance In Palm Beach, Florida.

The students selected were high school graduates going to first-year college or university of Saint Lucian and Caribbean descent.

Our keynote speaker at this year’s event is Saint Lucia’s Consulate General to New York the Honorable JULIAN DUBOIS. Please join us as we celebrate & acknowledge these students success and quest for higher education. We need your support. See flyer for more details.

Children of Helen Alliance Inc., formerly known as Children of Helen in Palm Beach Florida Inc., was incorporated on December 20th, 2010 as a non-profit organization under the provisions of chapter 617 of the Florida statutes.

As of December 8th, 2014, we have achieved 501 (c) (3) status which means that all donations made to the group are tax deductible. The group was founded by civic minded Saint Lucian residents in Palm Beach, Florida who wanted to form an organization that would represent Saint Lucia, “our island of heritage” by making positive contributions to our communities.

The organization seeks to promote educational, social and cultural interaction amongst Saint Lucians and other national groups whereby creating a framework for Saint Lucians to contribute towards the empowerment of people of St Lucian and other Caribbean heritage.

To date, Children of Helen has awarded 14 scholarships to high school students in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties. This year at our Annual Scholarship & Recognition Awards Dinner/ Dance we will have given 19 scholarships.

An annual school supplies & bag drive, assisting other worthy causes and keeping the Saint Lucia culture alive are a few highlights the group has contributed in accordance to its said goals. Children of Helen welcomes contributions from individuals and businesses to assist in the goals of the group.
