PRESS RELEASE - The University of the Southern Caribbean will host its 82nd graduation exercises this weekend, May 15-17, at the UTT Pavilion in Arima.
There will be two Commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 17. The first will begin at 9:00am and the second at 2:30pm.
Prime Minister of St Lucia, The Honourable Dr. Kenny Anthony will deliver the Commencement address at the morning session while Dr. Lisa Beardsley-Hardy, Director of Education for the World Seventh-day Adventist Church based in Washington, DC, will deliver the afternoon’s address.
Approximately 670 graduating students from over 20 countries are expected to participate in the weekend’s exercises, beginning with a Consecration Service on Friday at 7:00pm. Graduates will also participate in two religious services on Saturday.
In his Presidential Promulgation, University President Dr. Clinton A. Valley is expected to make some key announcements relative to the future direction of USC as it continues to play its vital role as an important thought leader and tertiary education provider in the region.
Mr. David Lee, Chairman of the MIC Institute of Technology will be one of two recipients of honorary doctoral degrees. His degree is in recognition of his visionary leadership and meritorious public service.
The other recipient is Dr. George Williams, a USC alumnus, now a retired surgeon and a philanthropist residing in Southern California, USA.
