Dr. Didacus Jules
Held under the theme “The Changing Dynamics of Educational Leadership,” organisers are reporting that the 24th biennial conference of the Caribbean Association of Principals of Secondary Schools (CAPSS) was a success.
The event took place recently in San Ignacio Belize, in which St. Lucia’s Catherine Inglis – Leon, President of the Secondary School Principals’ Association (SSPA St. Lucia) attended.
The gathering, according to a press release, addressed “pertinent challenges which principals of secondary schools encounter as educational leaders and key players in the education milieu.”
“The entire conference could be described as a lively and interesting interchange among educators on issues such as Moral Leadership as well as the transformational role which principals must play in present day society,” the release said.
A “powerful” presentation from CXC Registrar Dr. Didacus Jules on the “Digital Leader” was among highlights of the conference. Dr. Jules also underscored the need for “principals to lead by example and embrace the technology and the potential it offers to enhance both the process and the product of education. “
An awards banquet hosted by the Minister for Education of Belize also formed part of the conference.
Among those honoured was Lera Pascal a former President of Caribbean Association of Principals of Secondary Schools (CAPSS).
Pascal was recognized for her outstanding contribution to Education in the Caribbean. Pascal was also nominated to the newly established permanent secretariat of CAPS,the release said.
150 delegates from all over the Caribbean attended the week – long conference.
