A newly instated interim executive of the Vieux Fort North Youth and Sports Council has vowed to transform the group into one of the best in the country.
Charged with the task of revitalizing the council, the executive said it will also work “tirelessly” to improve the council’s image.
In that regard, a launching ceremony which will take the form of Cookout Competition will be held on the grounds of the Human Resource Development Centre located in Belle Vue, Vieux-Fort on July 21, 2013.
The two-hour-long competition will see groups of two and three persons preparing two course meals with a traditional Creole touch. They will be judged by qualified culinary arts personnel. This will be followed by some live entertainment from the Forth World and Avot Service bands.
According to a release, the Vieux-Fort North Youth and Sports Council is comprised of youth groups based in the constituency and is registered and approved by the National Youth Council of St. Lucia and Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The interim committee was elected following a May 29 meeting in which matters relating to the group’s dormancy were discussed. It was agreed that the new executive should also lay the ground work needed to hold elections at the end of its six months tenure.
The committee is headed by President Eleanor Joseph with Vice President Kendall Elva. Manesseh O’Brian is Secretary, Ricardo Paul Treasurer and Richardson O’Brain Public Relations Officer. Assistant Secretary is Zelga Martin while Lee Jn Baptist, Gilian Poleon and Delbert Jules were elected as floor members.
According to the release, the council believes it “should be strategically positioned to serve the interest of its members in an efficient and effective manner.”
The Cookout Competition starts at 1 p.m.
