PRESS RELEASE - On Thursday, June 26, 2014, Jevanic Henry was presented with the “Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony Award for Excellence” for his outstanding performance in the CSEC (popularly known as CXC) exam in 2013.
Henry, who is currently a student at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, was the top performer at the Vieux-Fort Comprehensive Secondary School (VFCSS). In 2013, he wrote 13 subjects and received 12 ones, among which nine were distinctions and one two.
Jervanic is from the community of Banse, La Grace.
The “Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony Award for Excellence” was introduced to the list of prestigious awards at the Annual Graduation Ceremony of the VFCSS in June 2013, as Dr. Anthony’s personal contribution to his alma mater. Last year, Dalsha Lafeuille received the trophy and a monetary prize of $1,000 for her top performance of ten ones, nine of which were distinctions, in the 2012 CSEC exams.
This year, the monetary component of the award was increased to $1,500. The award was presented to Jervanic at the 46th Graduation Ceremony of VFCSS by Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Jadia Jn. Pierre-Emmanuel.
Dr. Anthony has pledged to continue this award and will recognise this year’s top achiever at the 2015 graduation ceremony.
The top 2014 Common Entrance student at the Plain View Combined School will also be awarded with a trophy and a monetary prize at their graduation ceremony.
