Kendel Hippolyte
(PRESS RELEASE) – Through well-balanced and inclusive engagement, noted Saint Lucian poet, Kendel Hippolyte will extend his knowledge, skills and experience in the literary genre of poetry in a five (5) week training workshop this February.
The author will use poetry’s vision and precision to inspire participants as they find and use inherent tools needed to connect with an audience through the written word. Hippolyte says, “The aim of the workshop is to engage participants, whatever their level of experience in writing poetry, in exploring the fundamentals of poetic expression in the English language.”
Kendel is a poet, playwright and director. His work, which spans over four (4) decades, has been published in regional and international journals and anthologies. He has performed at several literary events throughout the Caribbean and beyond. As a mentor, Kendel has designed and taught many poetry workshops and over the years, Hippolyte has made a name for himself in the literature and theatre arts fraternity. He has authored poetry collections which include Birthright (1997), Fault Lines (2012); which won the Bocas Prize for Literature in 2013, Night Vision (2014) and Wordplanting (2019); his most recent publication.
