Students of the Pierrot Combined in deep concentration during a marble contest
(SNO) – Four school are expected to competition in a marble competition to held on December 21 at the Belle Vue Playing Field.
The event is sponsored by Moses Jn. Baptiste, Parliamentary Representative for Vieux Fort North.
The schools that are expected to take part in the competition are the Pierrot Combined School in Vieux Fort North, the Vige Primary, Grace Combined and Belle Vue Combined.
Those to represent the Pierrot Combined, which is in the Vieux Fort North Constituency are Seandre Clovis, Anthony Nadal and Jerrel Bernard.
The winner of the Moses Jn. Baptiste 2019 Marbles Competition will take home a brand new BMX Bike.
Jn. Baptiste has been receiving high praise for organizing and sponsoring the event.
“That’s the way to go, keep their young brain occupied in social activities where they can develop the competitive attitude so whatever challenges the universe may throw at them later will not overwhelm them and have them to turn to……Nice one, back to basics, when boys were boys and girls were girls and grow up to be gentlemen and ladies,” one person wrote on Facebook.
Others believe it is a good thing to keep the traditional pastime alive.
