Sandals accountant Cindy JnBaptiste has been named the top student of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) 2013 Financial Reporting (F7) Exams.

Twenty-seven-year-old JnBaptiste has credited her achievement to hard work and commitment and practical experience she gained as a staff member at Sandals Grande Resort locally.

“While studying I was able to apply what I was learning through everyday activities on the job. I was preparing financial statements and auditing at Sandals. Financial Reporting was one of the exams I took, and that basically entails the preparation of financial statements,” she said.

Her fulltime job did not affect her performance as she was able to maintained her performance levels and excel throughout her studies. She took two papers and performed exceptionally well in both, a press release states.

Regional Financial Controller at Sandals Resorts International in St Lucia Barrie Corcoran, in extending a hand of commendation to the young scholar said, “Cindy is an integral and valued member of the Sandals team in St Lucia and always goes the extra mile to get things done. Balancing work with study isn’t easy so receiving this accolade is an achievement to be proud of.”

JnBapstiste, who hails from Gros Islet, does not plan to stop there. She has pledged to keep the momentum going and complete her education by June 2015, according to the release. She hopes to complete six more exams in at least three sittings.

In 2012 she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of the West Indies in Barbados. She graduated with First Class Honours.
