The School of Art and Design would like to see an increase in art classes being offered at the CXC level.
Currently, the school offers graphic design, art animation, painting, drawing and youth studio for secondary school students, and for the primary school students a programme called “Kids for Art”.
Management of the art school said it will be introducing ceramics, sculpting, photography and fashion design as part of the institution’s curriculum.
Looking at the bigger picture, Marketing Officer of the School of Art and Design Terrence Scott told St Lucia News Online it is the school’s desire to have art as part of the CXC curriculum this year, since according to him, many local schools don’t offer it as a subject.
He is hopeful that the arts will be recognised on island as a promising technical subject.
