image001PRESS RELEASE – The Electrical Engineering Experts Inc. of St. Lucia, in partnership with the Division of Technical Education and Management Studies (DTEMS) of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, (SALCC), will be hosting the first graduation exercise for the 24 participants who were successful in the City and Guilds 17th Edition IET Wiring Regulations, BS7671, course which was held from February 13th to February 26, 2017 at DTEMS.

The successful students will be receiving their City & Guilds 2382-15: Level 3 Award (worth 4 UK Education Credits) in the Requirements for Electrical Installations.

The course was facilitated by a British Training Institute, Technical Training Solutions (www.technicaltrainingsolutions.co.uk) from Rochester, England. Technical Training Solutions is a City & Guilds Approved Training Center and an IET Endorsed Training Provider.

The graduation ceremony is scheduled for Thursday 20th April, 2017 at 5:30 pm at the Grace Augustine Building of SALCC.

The keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony will be Chairman of the Caribbean Association of Technologists CattaCavet, and the Technicians, Artisans and Craftsmen (CATTAC) and the Caribbean Association of Technical, Vocational, Education and Training (CATVET), Mr. Clyde H. Phillip of Trinidad. He is also the Head of Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and also a Visiting Professor for two other Universities.

Mr. Clyde Phillip will speak about many issues concerning TVET and how CattaCavet will help facilitate the process for the 24 grandaunts to get their (i) L3 CVQ (Caribbean Vocational Qualification), (ii) IET UK Membership and (iii) EngTech Professional Designation from the Engineering Council UK. The Engineering Council is the UK regulatory body for the engineering profession. It holds the national registers of 222,000 Engineering Technicians (EngTech), Incorporated Engineers (IEng), Chartered Engineers (CEng) and Information and Communications Technology Technicians (ICTTech). Professor Phillip will also touch on the current opportunities in the world of work and the CARICOM response to the Guyana Oil and Gas opportunity.
